Courage to Speak

A democracy so old none of us have to be told, stand and state your grievance please. The world knows we are all at ease. Take the mike into your hand shout to us all your displeasure scenes. We hear with ears of justice and grace. We show no disgrace. Our courage is solid and strong. Our thoughts are free of malice and spite. Quickly, quickly speak your minds content it cannot form a dent. Today we stand proud our justice higher than the clouds. There is no grievance our backs cannot withstand. Courageous we march and show the world the way. Our democracy outstands all others all the way. Look, look, at freedom that will never fall. Follow us! Follow us! We will teach you all to stay. Do not do as I do, but always as I say. My democracy is on a mountain, so high it is above the rain.

The back of the democracy has the skid marks of a plane. Hush, hush, that is a strain. A courage so strong surely has the mite. Shh, shh, the democracy is so ashamed. Call for justice and stand up and fight. Not today, not today, now quiet that’s all. Surely not; The home of the brave and the free cannot be so lame. Don’t speak, don’t speak, time has made the democracy contented and tame. A ban has our lips sealed and our mouths cannot move. The fire of justice has fallen into a cove. Our justice has lost the grace of the dove. Corruption tends the democracy and greed smothers the flame.   Fear has overtaken the drumming for justice.  Leisure has weighted the strength of courage.  A ban has driven freedom into a slump.  An injustice has smeared the democracy with murder and blood.  Shout break the ban all over your hood. Never forget why all the marchers stood.  Toss away fear and do your part of good. Can't will never spell able and able is all that can.   Where is the freedom and courage that stands solid and strong? Get up, wake up, and break the ban. Replenish the strength of freedom and justice for all.
